Brief summary

When and where
The 12th International Symposium on Bioluminescence & Chemiluminescence will be held from 5–9 April 2002 (Friday evening to Tuesday midday) at Robinson College, University of Cambridge, Cambridge UK. This is the weekend after Easter.

Delegates should arrive at the College after 14.00h on Friday. A buffet dinner will be available from about 18.30h until about 21.00h. There will be an informal get-together in the evening and a lecture at about 19.30h about Cambridge and the University. Scientific sessions will commence on Saturday morning at about 09.30h. The Symposium will finish at 12.00h Tuesday.

Scope
The meeting will cover all basic and applied aspects of bioluminescence and chemiluminescence. In addition, certain related aspects of fluorescence technologies will be covered including green fluorescent proteins and imaging (full programme).

Format
Presentations as lectures and posters are invited (further information). There will also be an exhibition. An edited Proceedings volume will be published after the Symposium prepared from submitted manuscripts (instructions to authors).

History of the Symposium
The International Symposia series has been organised biennially since 1978, when it was held in Brussels, Belgium.

This Symposium, like the past three [held at Woods Hole, MA, USA (1996); Bologna, Italy (1998) and Asilomar Conference Grounds, Monterey, CA, USA (2000)], will be held in association with the International Society for Bioluminescence & Chemiluminescence (ISBC, Society website).

Organisers (further information)
The ISBC will be responsible for the Scientific Programme and for editing the Proceedings volume. The ISBC will also be responsible for judging the DeLuca Prize. The Symposium itself is organised by Cambridge Research & Technology Transfer Ltd, which is based in Cambridge UK.
